San Juan Island Library
The San Juan Island Library provides community access to diverse and relevant collections, information resources, and services in support of individual educational, occupational, and recreational interests. The Library offers a welcoming place for community connection and promotes exploration of the joys of reading and of learning, while encouraging the discovery of life’s possibilities.

Target Audience or Areas Served or Area of Operation: Free membership to anyone living, working, or owning property on San Juan Island; also, free membership is offered to library cardholders on Lopez and Orcas Island; also, affordable visitor and annual memberships are available. All ages are welcome, and anyone can use our wifi and facilities for free. Seniors, spanish speakers, teens. We offer English Language classes, storytimes, events and and technology classes.
Volunteer Needs: Over 100 active volunteers help in a variety of ways from returning items to Library shelves, tutoring English as a second language, assisting library users with technology, preparing library materials to circulate to the public, organizing and hanging art shows, and helping with children’s and adult programs.
Charitable donations accepted? Yes. Contributions to the Library are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. New titles by popular authors may be added to the library while older books may be donated to the Friends of the Library, a 501 (c) 3 organization that supports the public library.
